History

Founded in 1998 in San Diego, CA, Network Insight was created to fill a void in the networking industry. At the height of a technology boom, there were seemingly endless resources for acquiring product; however, finding resources to implement these network components was much more difficult. Network Insight founders identified the need for skilled design and deployment engineers and started the company as a professional services firm.

The next year, based on customer requests, a managed services practice was also created to provide carrier-grade network management for service provider and other high-availability (99.995% uptime) networks. At the end of its second year, Network Insight was a fully-functioning professional and managed services firm.

Ongoing education, customer needs and active participation in industry organizations led Network Insight to realize in 2003 the value of Internet Protocol (IP) as the standard of the future network. Around this time, the company built one of the earliest nationwide, full-IP converged services backbones for a service provider.

Customer feedback that few product resellers weathered the telecommunications bust led Network Insight to evolve, once again, in 2005 to sell product for the first time.
